Project Log: Here
NZXT's
Phantom is one of our favourite cases thanks to great looks and features that should please any enthusiast. It's one of the few cases that we'd say looks great without any modding, not that it's un-modifiable though. We were itching to see what
bit-tech's modding community came up with in any event.
Thankfully we didn't have to wait long and forum user k.3nny's project is one of the first we've seen. The first thing to do was to strip down the Phantom ready for plenty of cutting and painting. Above we can see the vacant slot where the fan controller used to be.
This really caught our eye - k.3nny has cut a neat hole in the roof mesh to fit what appears to be an Aquacomputer Aquatube reservoir. He's done this so well it looks like the case was made for it.
Next up was to pain the panels and fittings that had been removed. The colour of choice is a racey-looking orange which contrasts brilliantly against the stark white of the rest of the case. The rest of the water-cooling kit has been leak tested and in later posts in the worklog, the radiator has been installed so things are happening quickly.
Here's a close-up of that reservoir. We think it looks great and combined with the great colour scheme and orange Xigmatek fans complementing it, DuallPhantoM should look very slick indeed when it's done.
